The Weekend 9.30-10.2

As you all know, this weekend brings the first round of Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL)! We’ll be there Sunday helping promote The Traveling Bundle and HomeAway! If you see us, say hello!

Friday: Gymboree Play & Music Central Texas as well as Gymboree Play & Music Of Arboretum Crossing has their open house all week. Go and check out the classes they offer for FREE! Easterseals Central Texas is bringing back their Play Groups! where parents can come and connect with other parents while their children play. Austin Born is hosting the The Breastfeeding Cafe where mothers can come and just be together with their nursing babes. Crying, sleeping, fussy, whatever! It all goes at The Breastfeeding Cafe! Hanna Andersson is having their grand opening all weekend so come and score some pretty awesome swag at this event, for more info follow the link –> Hanna Andersson Grand Opening at The Domain Northside! Faulk Central Library, Austin Public Library is having a preschool storytime tomorrow. It’s a great place to connect with other parents while enjoying a little down time! If you find yourself needing a day to connect with the family check out Downtown Street Market for some food trucks, shopping, and fun!



Saturday: If you’ve got kids between 12 and 18, I really recommend you take them to the Texas Teen Book Festival. Reading really helped me a lot growing up and I think it’s one of the most cathartic outlets to have aside from yoga! Read a book! All local The Home Depots will be hosting a fire truck workshop where the kiddos work together to build a little wooden firetruck. It’s best for ages 3 and up. Staci Gray will be at Strange Brew, Lounge Side at 10am on Saturday. The picture has it cut off, sorry for that folks (I’m my own editor – lol) Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge & Family Fun Fest is also happening on Saturday! If you’ve got a nursling or you just wanna have some fun go and check this event out! I’m headed out of my realm here but I thought this deserved a mention, Round Rock will be having a Chalk Walk and Festival featuring Dale Watson Saturday and is the perfect even for families! Sunday:Sunday looks to be a great day for family fun. Hey Lolly Music is performing at Cherrywood Coffeehouse. Great venue (great brunch) and a great show! We’ve watched Hey Lolly a few times and really enjoyed it.Uncle Billy’s Smokehouse & Brewery is having a live music even called Hops, Hymns, and Hallelujahs. It’s a really family friendly place so go and check that out if you want to enjoy some good food and music. Austin Fleawill be at Jester King Brewery. Again, this is a great family friendly option. Jester King has a great area for kids to run around as well as pizza and while you’re there do a little shopping with Austin Flea! the art garage– Austin, TX is having Free Family Fun and they’ll be working on some fun Halloween Crafts!


For Parents: On Friday Dia’s Market will be hosting the Eldorado Cafe pop-up kitchen at Dia’s Market event. All I know about this is that it will have delicious food so pick some up then make it a date night by going to a movie or driving on over to in.gredients for some live music by Silverfox live at in.gredients. The People’s Gallery is having Art After Six where you can enjoy art via a self guided tour. Also a great option for date night. Start the month of October out with a ghoulish bang and head on over to Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In for a little Halloween drive in movie double feature! Ghostbusters and Charlie Brown not your speed? Then head on over to the French Legation Museum for Return of the living Dead! Creepy! Feeling like some 90’s partying and dancing? Then head on over to The Highball Austin for Semi-Charmed Night!
Need to recover from Saturday? Sunday morning brings us to Bouldin Creek Cafe and their Bazaar Brunch. Saddle up with some cold brew and an omelet and enjoy your morning. Need something a little later in the day? Hit up Hops and Grain for their 1st Sunday Artists Roadshow!
